No cinema seu papel de maior destaque foi o personagem Morpheus na trilogia Matrix.
É também conhecido pelo seu papel em Stargate Atlantis.
Biografia
Fishburne nasceu em Augusta, na Geórgia , filho de Hattie Bell (née Crawford), professora de matemática e ciências do ensino médio e Laurence John Fishburne, Jr., um oficial de correções juvenil. [2]

Fishburne casou-se com a atriz Hajna O. Moss em 1985, [2] em Nova York. Eles têm dois filhos.
O filho Langston nasceu em 1987 [2] e a filha Montana Fishburne nasceu em 1991. [2] Hajna e Laurence se divorciaram na década de 1990. [5]
Fishburne conheceu a atriz Gina Torres e se casaram em 2002 [47] no museu The Cloisters, na cidade de Nova York.
Tiveram uma filha, Delilah, que em 2007. [50]
Fishburne mora em Hollywood, e também mantém uma residência na cidade de Nova York, no Castle Village Co-Op, na seção Hudson Heights de Washington Heights . [51]
Ele é um grande fã do autor brasileiro Paulo Coelho e planeja produzir um filme baseado em seu Romance ‘O Alquimista’ The Alchemist . [52]
